At National Electronics Week, Radiometrix will launch its SHX1 transceiver for use in applications including amateur radio, MURS units and industrial/commercial telemetry systems.

Other applications of the compact multi-channel operation VHF device include high-end security alarms, automatic packet reporting systems, vehicle data up/download and remotely operated vehicle/machinery controls.

Powered by a +5V regulated supply, it has an output power of 500mW, allowing it to cover a range of over 5km.

The transceiver is usable in any 3MHz segment of the 140-175MHz frequency range, allowing it to be employed in wireless communication based on the 144MHz amateur, 151MHz US Multi Use Radio Service (MURS) and European 169MHz bands.

The standard module can offer data rates of up to 5kbps and supports eight parallel or 255 serial channels.

It conforms fully to the ETSI EN 300 220-3 and EN 301 489-3 electromagnetic compatibility standards.

As the SHX1 has separate N and R registers on each channel for transmit and receive functions, the frequency of each of these channels can be individually programmed in every mode.

The event will be held on 18-19 May at Birmingham’s NEC and will see Radiometrix showcase its wider portfolio of wideband and narrowband low-power radio modules.
