The TTY (teletypewriter) test solution – CMU200 has been officially approved by the North American PCS Type Certification Board (PTCRB).

TTY is a telecommunications feature for hearing and speech impaired people.

Wireless service providers have upgraded their digital networks to be compatible to TTY.

This way hearing and speech impaired people are able to use TTY-compatible wireless phones and take advantage of mobile services, including 911 calls.

Verifying the correct implementation of TTY on wireless phones including the TTY signalling support and the TTY transmission performance can be a complex and time-consuming process.

The TTY test solution – CMU200 provides a reliable, highly automated and easy-to-handle test solution using Rohde and Schwarz instruments including the CMU200 as well as software tools and TTY test case packages from 7 Layers.

The test case package for W-CDMA is the first commercially available and validated package, with others to follow in early 2009.

It currently includes eight test cases for the FDD2 frequency band.

With the upcoming release of PTCRB’s NAPRD.03 test case document version 4.3 these tests will become mandatory to be performed for mobile phones claiming W-CDMA TTY support.
