ESAB has introduced new two-axis and three-axis positioners for manipulating workpieces during welding applications such as pipe production, cladding of end dishes and fuel-tank fabrication.

Two series of two-axis positioners are available, both giving operators control over tilt and rotation: the RT250 and RT500 have load capacities of 250 and 500kg respectively, while the seven models in the larger series, designated the RT1 to RT35 units, have load capacities of 1 to 35 tonnes.

All models operate from a multi-voltage three-phase supply.

24V DC remote-control units give operators full control over all of the positioners’ functions.

As well as being sufficiently rugged to cope with the harsh conditions typically encountered in fabrication shops, the positioners also meet or exceed the requirements of all relevant European safety standards and benefit from low-maintenance design features, such as brushless motors.

ESAB’s TAP 1T and TAP 3T three-axis positioners enable workpieces to be rotated, tilted and raised.

Load capacities are 1,000 and 3,000kg, respectively.

As with the two-axis positioners, rotation is controlled via an inverter-driven AC motor, whereas height and tilt are controlled hydraulically.

Compared with their predecessors, the new three-axis positioners offer advantages through being more compact and requiring less maintenance, with fewer spare parts needing to be stocked.

As part of ESAB, a world leading supplier of welding and cutting solutions, ESAB Group (UK) Ltd have access to a product research and development programme, the envy of the welding industry.

The brand is synonymous with world leading expertise  and today the company produces consumables and equipment for virtually every welding and cutting process and application.

As a logical step following his invention of the covered welding electrode back in 1904, Oscar Kjellberg founded ESAB. Since then, the company has constantly improved on existing methods and materials. At the same time, ESAB has developed new methods to meet the challenge presented by technological progress.

More than 100 years of continuous research, development and manufacture have made ESAB a world leader in welding, cutting and also an international supplier of products, know-how and services that none can match.

At is UK headquarters, ESAB Group (UK) Ltd have a team of highly experienced and qualified staff who are always available to offer help and advice on all aspects of welding and cutting.
