Temptrol self-acting control valves suit applications where modulating temperature control is required without the need for sophisticated algorithms, communications capability or auxiliary power.

The control systems rely on the expansion and contraction of a fluid in a closed space, transferring the movement to a valve stem/spindle.

This fluid expansion is constant across the selected range and results in proportional control with infinite turndown, according to the company.

The proportional band of the system is dictated by the combination of application, valve size and movement in the controller.

The Temptrol range includes two port valves configured for heating or cooling applications and three port valves for mixing and diverting systems.

Features include: accurate control – equal percentage flow characteristic offers precise regulation and stainless-steel bellows sealing ensures low friction/minimum hysteresis; small seat leakage – 0.01 per cent from the nominal flow; simple, single trade installation process; easy to operate – adjusting knob enables a variety of controller configurations; and over-temperature protection integrated within actuator/capillary unit.

The Temptrol range is available with capillary length from 2m to 16m and other options include a bellows balanced model for applications requiring a higher shut-off pressure, sensors for pipe systems or air, brass or stainless-steel sensor pocket and a manual control device with stroke indicator.
