Variohm Eurosensor has introduced a CANopen-enabled series of pressure transducers for hydraulic, pneumatic, air-conditioning, environmental engineering, agriculture and automotive applications.

According to the company, the new SMC series provides high-accuracy measurement up to 2,000bar in a compact and robust IP67-rated stainless steel design based on the 22mm hexagonal industry standard.

The CANopen protocol ensures straightforward, industry-standard commissioning with interfacing to CAN 2.0A or optionally CAN 2.0B, and the 1Mbit/sec data rate ensures fast update pressure measurement.

The SMC series is available in more than 20 standard measurement ranges, with a selection of overload and burst pressure ratings that ensure maximum safety.

With a media temperature range of -40C to 125C and temperature coefficient compensation between -20C and 85C, the overall measurement accuracy is within 0.05 per cent and repeatability is better than 0.1 per cent.

The fully welded stainless steel casing uses an encapsulated thin-film sensor technology that does not rely on a transmitting media and, as a ‘dry’ measuring cell, is suited to applications where leakage would be a problem.

With a shock rating of 1,000G and vibration to 20G, the durable transducers can be used for gas and liquid pressure measurement for hydraulics and pneumatics applications as well as general industrial uses in air-conditioning, environmental engineering, agriculture, automotive and process control applications.

The SMC series is supplied in two- and three-wire connector versions for M12, M5 and integrated Y piece, with pressure connections available in G1/4 A and B, G1/2 B and 1/4 NPT.

Accuracy ratings, pressure connections and connecting options can be customised on request.
