The City of Eagan in North Minnesota, USA, required a pump capable of accurately dosing 15 per cent sodium hypochlorite or ’hypo’ for its new wastewater-treatment plant.

10 Verderflex VF10 peristaltic hose pumps were selected.

Each pump is capable of flow rates up to 48 US GPH and at pressures up to 175 PSI.

Verderflex pumps can pump gas and liquid, ensuring the liquid stream receives a consistent dose.

Peristaltic pumps are suitable for dosing sodium hypochlorite and Verderflex pumps can be found in wastewater treatment plants worldwide.

The fluid being dosed is kept totally enclosed within the rubber hose, which is then compressed by a rotating shoe, forcing the liquid inside along.

Upon restitution of the hose, the resulting vacuum draws in more liquid.

Variations in hose type allow for low and high-strength hypo dosing.

Because of the pumping process used by peristaltic pumps, the hose is the only part that ever comes onto contact with the fluid being pumped.

Verdermag
With the absence of mechanical seals, the Verdermag® range eliminates the danger of abrasive wear from the drive shaft and seal faces and instead uses an o-ring sealing system. As the pump has no vulnerability to containing the media, it can provide reliable handling of hazardous fluids such as volatile, corrosive and toxic chemicals with no risk to employees, the environment or surrounding equipment. The range encompasses compact low flow/head pumps commonly used in OEM systems through to high flow, heavy duty pumps rated up to 200 bar. For compatibility with all types of chemicals the range is available with both metallic and non-metallic materials such as ETFE and a range of alloys. Custom pump specifications are available.

Verderhus
