Vision Engineering has launched Makroptic, a digital inspection system designed for image capture, archive and documentation.

With a 36x optical zoom, Makroptic can capture samples up to 205mm wide, then simply zoom in for further high-resolution analysis.

Whether to simply capture images (JPEG, BMP and TIFF formats), annotate, magnify or measure, Makroptic simplifies imaging and documentation tasks in a powerful digital imaging and software package, benefitting from the versatility of a digital camera and the high-quality lens of a microscope.

The large field of view permits image capture of complete samples, and with a maximum zoom magnification of x60, users can pinpoint sample details with reference to the full sample.

An array of annotation tools, including text, arrows, markers and measurements, allow for simple image documentation, with advanced features including calibrated 2D measurement (point-to-point, circles, angles, projections, areas and circumferences) plus an optional CAD import for image overlays.

Vision holds world patents for techniques, which expand the exit pupil of microscope systems. Vision Engineering has revolutionised the optical inspection and measurement sector by adopting emerging new technologies in optical production, precision injection moulding and vacuum forming to give the highest optical performances at low cost. Vision Engineering’s products also focus on advanced ergonomics for user comfort, reduced eyestrain and improved productivity.

Vision Engineering’s main manufacturing base is at Send, near Woking in Surrey. Further commercial and assembly activities are carried out at a second site in Woking. Vision has a North American division, which manufactures in New Milford, Connecticut, US, and operates direct sales and distribution networks from regional offices on the east and west coasts. The company also has additional subsidiaries in France, Germany, Japan, Italy, the Benelux countries, Brazil and China, plus a network of 120 stock-holding and fully trained distributors servicing all other developed countries.

More than 90 per cent of manufacturing output from the Send research and production base is exported. Vision Engineering received the Queen’s Award for Export in 1991.
