VPT, a Heico company, has introduced the VPTHVM-270 Series, a regulated bus converter module.

It features up to 200W of output power and operates from a 270V bus to step down the power to create a regulated 28V bus for avionics power systems.

A wide input voltage range accommodates MIL-STD-704 input power requirements for avionics and other applications.

The high-efficiency design reduces input power requirements and eases thermal management, increasing the overall system reliability.

Additional product features include: up to 200W output power; single output; 91 per cent efficiency; wide input voltage range of 160-500V per MIL-STD-704; full operation over a wide -55C to +100C standard; high isolation of 3000V; the ability to be used in parallel with up to five units with current sharing; an all-metal case, which improves EMI performance; undervoltage lockout, fixed frequency, output soft start; no optoisolators, resulting in ultimate reliability; environmental screening, including a 96-hour burn-in, 100 per cent electrical testing and temperature cycling testing standard for all products; and testing to JESD22, MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-883.

It is designed and manufactured in a facility certified to ISO 9001, J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610.

A rugged six-sided all-metal package improves performance reliability through the harsh environments of vibration, shock and temperature cycling.

It has a footprint of just 2.35 x 1.550in (59.69 x 39.37mm) and weighs 85g.

Like all VPT power-handling products, the new VPTHVM-270 module works to satisfy the US Department of Defense’s ‘Commercial-off-the-Shelf’ (COTS) directive in terms of low cost, high performance and satisfaction of stringent avionics and military industry requirements.

New units are typically available in short lead times.

Units are priced at USD414.00 (GBP253.7) in OEM quantities.
