Wittmann Battenfeld is promoting the energy-saving features of its dryers, temperature controllers and all-electric moulding machines in this year’s round of exhibitions and general marketing.

Wittmann Battenfeld now regularly deploys its own bespoke energy-measuring services for customers and potential clients.

Barry Hill, managing director of Wittmann Battenfeld, said: ‘We show them the pattern of consumption for the existing machine and its projected consumption into the future; we show the savings that can be made by switching to current models – and we also factor in the financial incentives now offered by the Carbon Trust and others in order to make the capital equipment switch.’ Wittmann Battenfeld is also offering an old-for-new machinery trade-in package for injection-moulding machines.

And its Drymax materials dryers all have badges that demonstrate the amount of energy they use.

Hill added: ‘The key is to measure the specific amount of energy required to heat the polymer resin and remove moisture from it.

‘We have developed a standard method of assessing and rating these matters – and in a way that provides repeatable results for the actual energy use.’ Wittmann therefore also supplies an energy rating value.

The value shows the measured test result in terms of KWh per unit weight of dry air.
