WNT (UK) has introduced a version of its 2011 milling insert with a 15mm edge-length and that can cut up to 14mm deep.

The XDKT 15 insert, which is aimed at medium sized sub-contract engineering companies, is especially useful when operating lower-powered machine tools.

The design of the insert geometry, the use of the latest Mastertool Dragonskin carbide grades and the interaction between the insert and the cutter body ensure optimum metal-removal rates without the need for high-horsepower spindles.

The XDKT 15 insert features all the advantages of the 2011 range, including: quiet operation, even under large depth of cut; reduced vibration, which improves surface finish; and excellent swarf evacuation thanks to the optimised flutes and directed chip flow, achieved through the use of finite element-analysis during the design process.

WNT has also added the WNT Mastertool Dragonskin grades of HCN1235 for steel and HCN2235 for stainless steel to the 2011 range.

These feature the Radial Force Compensation Notch, which provides high stability when plunge cutting, improved cutting data and higher surface-quality when milling slots.

The cutter bodies also benefit from coolant holes that have been optimised with FEA to ensure coolant is directed exactly where it is needed to ensure good swarf evacuation.

This precise delivery of coolant makes the 2011 cutters suited for use in areas where minimal-quantity lubrication or high-speed machining need to be employed.

As with other cutters in the WNT highlight range, the cutter body is also treated to a highly wear-resistant coating that extends tool life by reducing tool wear and protecting it from corrosion.

With guaranteed delivery before 10:30, six days a week, for any cutting tools ordered before 18:30 the previous working day (12:30 Saturday), combined with industry-leading technical and customer support, WNT (UK) is the first-choice cutting-tool supplier for the SME engineering manufacturing sector.
