TAM deal for Goodrich

TAM, Brazil's largest airline, has selected Goodrich Corporation to supply a nacelle and thrust reverser repair service program for its entire fleet of A320 aircraft.

Under the current memorandum of understanding, Goodrich plans to establish its first ever presence in Sao Carlos, Brazil to perform the service work.

Goodrich anticipates opening a certified repair station in Sao Carlos later this year. The planned 30,000-square-foot facility will initially require 20-30 employees.

The specialised technicians on-site will focus on repairing IAE/V2500-A5 engine inlets, fan cowls, and thrust reversers. Longer term, capabilities to repair the same components for CFM56-5B and the CF680E1 engine nacelle systems are also expected to be established.

Serving 71 cities in the Brazilian domestic market through regional alliances and seven cities in the international market, TAM currently operates 70 A320 family aircraft, 10 A330s, three MD11s and 16 F100s. It has also placed additional orders for 52 A320's, six A330s and four Boeing 777s.
