Tech illustrators get a hand

When producing technical support documents or instruction manuals, it can be frustrating to find that existing drawings or 3D CAD models cannot be used.

Now, a new product called Tech Illustrator can help out. Developed by Auto-Trol, the product is available in the UK from Centra Technology. Until recently, it has only been available on Unix Platforms. Now, it is on PC NT systems too.

Many large companies such as Jaguar, Martin Baker, and GEC Marconi use this software to communicate product views. The drawing, editing and annotation tools allow the draftsman to create graphics from scratch, from photographs, engineering drawings or CAD, combining the precision and structure of engineering design with the art of advertising and graphic design.
