Global technology mergers & acquisitions (M&A) increased in deal number and value, both year over year and sequentially, in the third quarter of 2010.
The number of deals announced during 2010’s third quarter climbed 43 per cent compared with the same period last year and 11 per cent over the previous quarter.
Total deal value in the quarter increased by 48 per cent compared with the same period in 2009 and 50 per cent over the previous quarter to $46.2bn (£33.1bn).
In addition, 11 deals worth more than $1bn were announced, bringing the year-to-date number of big-ticket deals to 20, one more than in all of last year and six more than in all of 2008.
The aggregate value of cash, short-term and long-term investments of the top 10 technology companies has grown 32 per cent year-over-year to $276bn.
