Tecnimont to build chemical plants for $220 million

Tecnimont has been awarded a $220 million contract by CNOOC Petrochemicals and Shell Nanhai to produce polyethylene and polypropylene plants for the Nanhai Petrochemical Project in China.

Tecnimont, the engineering and construction company of the Edison Group, has been awarded a $220 million contract by CNOOC (China National Offshore Oil Corporation) Petrochemicals and Shell Nanhai.

The contract is part of the Nanhai Petrochemical Project, already under construction at Daya Bay Economic and Technical Development Zone, Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, in China.

Tecnimont’s scope of work includes the construction of three units producing 250,000 tons/year of Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE), 240,000 tons/year of Polypropylene (PP) and 200,000 tons/year of Linear Low and High Density Polyethylene (LL/HDPE).

The three plants are expected to be complete by 2005.
