Tecnomatix Technologies has received a $3.5 million follow-on order from the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company EADS Airbus SA for its Tecnomatix eMPower eManufacturing software.
EADS Airbus SA will use eMPower to help deploy the Digital Factory over its A380 program, its five-year plan to build the largest and most advanced civil aircraft in history.
EADS Airbus SA has purchased a number of the eMPower Assembly tools in the Tecnomatix eMPower suite of e-Manufacturing software that support the planning and designing of complex assembly processes, and facilitate a ‘Concurrent Industrial Engineering’ approach.
Among these are the eM-Planner solution for assembly process definition; eM-Workplace for drilling, riveting and laser; eM-Assembler for operations sequence validation; eMHuman for manual accessibility studies: and eM-Plant for flow simulation.
‘Before standardizing on the Tecnomatix eMPower suite of solutions, EADS Airbus SA used several independent software tools that could not work in tandem. Now, with all our tools integrated around a unique database like the eMPower e-anufacturing Server, we will be able to standardize, plan and execute projects quickly and accurately,’said Bernard Machenaud, CAM/CAPE Manager of EADS Airbus SA.
‘The Tecnomatix eManufacturing package is the logical step forward for EADS Airbus SA to complete a full digital mock-up. It will enable EADS Airbus SA engineers to validate the tooling and entire assembly sequence of the plane, define the number of needed operators and optimize the factory layout. The collaborative work environment that will allow our distributed teams to work concurrently and to communicate manufacturing information.’
EADS Airbus SA will now be able to facilitate communication between its plants and its Product Integrated Development Team through use of Tecnomatix’ eM-Work Instructions tool, an integrated component that turns process information into electronic work instructions.
eM-Work Instructions will enable EADS Airbus SA to prepare and share process data with project participants through an Intranet network, creating a truly collaborative work environment.
