I was disappointed that the ICE Council rejected a full merger with the IMechE, and is only likely to progress with alliances and links in areas such as policy formation.
I believe it is vital for the main institutions to converge and ultimately merge into one comprehensive body to achieve the status and influence we all seek, and on Teesside we have made good progress to at least have a common programme of events, and some jointly organised events, through the Teesside Professional Institutions Group which includes the IMechE, the ICE, the IET, InstMC and IChemE.
If we can closely co-operate regionally then why can't the parent organisations converge?
