VAC has developed a process which allows the manufacture of thin, flexible magnetic films using rare earth permanent magnets. Despite a thickness of just 200 m, the isotropic Vacophan magnetic film is flexible and easily cut or punched, making it ideal for the manufacture of microsystems, sensors, positioner blocks and similar applications.
Vacophan 1.7 has a density of 4g/cm3 and a maximum energy density of 13kJ/m3. It is fully magnetised with a pulse field strength of 40kA/cm, and is suitable for continuous operation at temperatures up to 800C. Different magnetic properties can be obtained by using different rare earth magnetic materials.
