Not much of a surprise to last week’s poll, with the largest proportion of the 541 respondents, 44 per cent, saying that we need a combination of energy technologies to ensure our lights stay on this winter. Almost a quarter of respondents thought nuclear was proven safe, reliable and low carbon enough to deserve a priority on spending, while 12 per cent thought that demand reduction and energy efficicency should be the priority; the same proportion opted for energy storage. Only 6 per cent thought the potential of shale gas deserved a priority.
