Touching transfer

3M Touch Systems, a subsidiary of technology company 3M, has agreed to sell all its manufacturing equipment at its Vancouver production plant to Texas-based Touch International.

Under the agreement, from September 1, Touch International will use the equipment to manufacture resistive products similar to the 3M Specialty Resistive touch screens that were being produced at the plant. Touch International also plans to hire former 3M touch systems manufacturing employees to work at the Vancouver factory.

3M Touch Systems will continue to manufacture touch sensor products, such as the MicroTouch Flex Capacitive sensor for handheld and mobile electronic devices, at its factories in Methuen, Massachusetts and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The sale of assets will not affect customers who have ordered 3M products up until the end of August.
