Turkish carrier Turk Hava Yollari has awarded Rolls-Royce $470m to supply Trent engines for seven Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft that are currently on order.

Turkish carrier Turk Hava Yollari has awarded Rolls-Royce $470m (£291m) to supply Trent engines for seven Airbus A330 wide-body aircraft that are currently on order.

 

Announced on 19 June 2009, the airline’s order includes two increased take-off weight versions of the A330-200 plus five A330-300s.

 

Aircraft deliveries will start in 2010.

 

Once in service the aircraft will be used on regional and long-haul routes.

 

Designed specifically for the A330, the Trent 700 has so far cornered more than 70 per cent of new orders over the past three years.

 

According to Rolls-Royce, annual sales were £9.1bn in 2008, of which 52 per cent came from services revenues.

 

The firm and announced order book at the end of 2008 stood at £55.5bn.
