The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has contracted engineering consultancy, Frazer-Nash, to support the development of Taranis and Mantis, two of BAE Systems’ Unmanned Air Systems (UAS) programmes.
The agreement will see Frazer-Nash carry out an Independent Safety Audit of the two programmes, which form part of the MoD’s strategy to introduce long endurance autonomous UAS into the
Taranis, which is set to be the largest UAS to be built in the
Martin Soltau, business manager at Frazer-Nash, said: ‘I’m delighted that Frazer-Nash has been selected to support these hugely significant Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle programmes.
‘We have a lot of safety and environmental management experience in Aerial Target and UAS, which makes us well placed to support the MoD and BAE Systems in these significant programmes.’
