Verifying Simulink models

National Instruments has released the LabVIEW Simulation Interface Toolkit 2.0, an add-on that links the NI LabVIEW graphical development environment with The MathWorks’ Simulink modelling and simulation software.

The LabVIEW Simulation Interface Toolkit includes a connection manager that engineers can use to create custom LabVIEW-based graphical user interfaces that connect to parameters and output of Simulink models. Engineers can incorporate their application knobs, dials, gauges and graphs into a single interface to easily verify their simulation models. In addition, they can implement batch simulations to validate Simulink models with a wide range of test parameters.

Engineers use the same custom user interface to connect to a real-time PXI system to transition from verification to hardware prototyping. With just a few mouse clicks, engineers can download the LabVIEW test application and Simulink model onto real-time PXI hardware to determine how the prototype model performs when connected to a real system. By deploying custom control models to real-time hardware, engineers can identify flaws earlier in the design flow, reducing overall development time.

In addition to real-time PXI systems, they can download Simulink models to PCI plug-in real-time boards and NI Compact FieldPoint for embedded or distributed prototyping and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
