VTI Technologies announces record sales in 2010

Sensor supplier VTI Technologies has announced record results for 2010, in which the group’s net sales totalled €75.8m, showing an increase of 42 per cent from €53.6m in 2009.

According to iSuppli, the total market for MEMS components increased by 18 per cent to $7bn in 2010 and these results indicate that VTI maintained a strong position among manufacturers of MEMS-based products.

Consumer electronics was the fastest growing MEMS market in 2010, with the penetration of MEMS-based sensors, particularly angular-rate sensors, in consumer electronics products expanding.

At the year’s end VTI introduced its three-axis angular-rate sensor for consumer products to meet this increased market opportunity, and also announced that it is developing a MEMS-based timing device.
