Wing model

The US Air Force has awarded Boeing a $14.9m contract for systems engineering and modelling services for the A-10 wing replacement programme.

The A-10 Thunderbolt II is a twin-engine, single-seat aircraft designed for close air support of ground forces.

Boeing will carry out the work in St Louis, Missouri and Salt Lake City, Utah. The contract is scheduled for completion in September 2010.

The air force placed a $2bn order with Boeing for engineering services and the manufacture of 242 wing sets for the A-10 fleet last June.
