London-based consultancy WSP Group has bought US engineering design specialist SEi in a deal worth £11m.
SEi employs 150 staff in its offices in Boston, Houston and Washington DC and engineering services to the public and private sectors.
According to WSP, the acquisition gives it a presence in almost every major city on the US east and west coasts.
Current projects SEi is working on include the $175m Yale Biology Building and the $200m Boston Museum of Fine Arts. The company, which has a turnover of around £10m per year, also has extensive experience in the telecoms, laboratory and healthcare sectors, said its new UK owner.
WSP will pay £7.2m upfront for SEi, with a further £3.8m over the next three years depending on future performance.
