ZAP car with 160km dependability

Electric car manufacturer ZAP has completed a successful trial of its XEBRA city truck, which travelled more than 160km on a single charge of an advanced lithium battery system.

Danish technology firm Lithium Balance developed the advanced battery management system for ZAP, which has two XEBRAs in Denmark.

In January, ZAP signed an exclusive distribution agreement for the system, which is said to improve the performance of lithium batteries and deliver up to five times the range over the lead-acid batteries that are used in a variety of electric vehicles.

ZAP have also made a $5.168m order for polymer and nano batteries from Advanced Battery Technologies for use in the XEBRA as well as other ZAP vehicles and battery systems.
