3D maps

Norwegian geographic information company, Blom ASA, and digital maps provider, Tele Atlas, have entered into a five year agreement aimed at speeding up the production of 3D city maps.

The new partnership will draw on Blom’s imagery and 3D map components to increase Tele Atlas’s existing 3D information bank.

The data will then be used to create imagery products for internet and mobile solutions users as well as in personal and in-car navigation systems.

According to Tele Atlas, demand for 3D maps has risen with the increase in navigation technology.

The companies believe they are in a strong position to meet demand and expect to deliver fully three dimensional products in more than 250 cities by the end of next year.
