3M company buys Hitech Polymers

Dyneon, a 3M company, has acquired Hitech Polymers, a manufacturer of speciality thermoplastic polymers based in Hebron, Kentucky. Financial details of the contract were not disclosed.

Thermoplastics are used to create plastic components, from plastic bottles to pumps and valves, in a range of industries including consumer, packaging, electronics, construction and transportation.

Hitech Polymers will add capabilities to Dyneon’s business, such as those in polymer blending, alloying, formulation and reactive polymer processing, that are critical to the creation of compounds that can be moulded into plastic products.

Dyneon specialises in the manufacturing of high-performance materials in its fluoroplastics, fluoroelasatomers and specialty additive product lines.

‘The addition of Hitech Polymers increases Dyneon’s ability to bring new solutions to existing customers faster,’ said Netha Johnson, president and general manager at Dyneon.
