Airbus Military has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Defence in the Czech Republic to supply four C-295 military transport aircrafts.


Airbus Military has signed an agreement with the Ministry of Defence in the CzechRepublic to supply four C-295 military-transport aircrafts.


The C-295 is the latest development of the Airbus Military medium-weight tactical-transport aircraft family.


The aircraft is designed for the deployment of rapid-reaction forces on humanitarian missions, maritime surveillance and homeland-security operations.


According to Airbus, the C-295 has the lowest life-cycle cost (LCC) of any aircraft in its category and can carry up to 71 troops.


The maximum cruise speed is 260kts (480km/h) and maximum TOW is 51,150lb (23.2ton).


The aircrafts are expected to replace the former Antonov An-26 fleet, with the first to be delivered at the end of 2009 and the last before the end of 2010.


With this contract, the total number of orders for the C-295 currently stands at 72.
