Bearings giant SKF is to acquire Jaeger Industrial, a manufacturer of electromechanical actuators, electronic control units as well as complete actuation systems.
Actuation systems are used within a wide range of products and applications. Primary areas of operation are in medical technology, hospital and nursing home beds, furniture, conveying and manufacturing technology, automation and robot engineering.

This isn't the company's first foray into the Far East. On April 1 this year, SKFs new wholly owned subsidiary, SKF (Dalian) Bearings and Precision Technologies announced that it was to build a completely new factory in the Dalian Economic & Technological Development Area in the North East of China. The factory will manufacture and recondition large size bearings of different types.
The first phase of the factory will be finished in 2006 and will initially employ 85. The factory and the manufacturing will be increased gradually until it reaches full capacity - then the factory will employ some 240 persons.
