Asian order for CFM engines

BOC Aviation has ordered CFM International’s CFM56-5B engines to power seven firm, plus 10 option Airbus A320 aircraft. The order is valued at $95m over the life of the product.

The CFM56-5B is the only engine that can power every model of the A320 family, from the A318 up to the A321. More than 2,700 of the engines have been delivered to date.

CFM International is a joint company between Snecma (SAFRAN Group) and General Electric. It supplies commercial aircraft engines with 17,000 engines in service with 485 operators.

Singapore-based BOC Aviation, previously known as Singapore Aircraft Leasing Enterprise, has a firm order with Airbus and Boeing for 63 aircraft through to 2012.
