The company that brought you Big Dog has given Atlas - a battery powered, hydraulically actuated machine that perceives via LiDAR and stereo vision – considerably more agility with backflip capabilities.
Atlas’s control system coordinates the motions of its arms, torso, and legs to achieve whole-body mobile manipulation and – like Big Dog - can keep its balance when pushed. It can also get up if it falls over, which comes in handy when a flip goes wrong.
