Avingtrans invests in VOL

Vehicle Occupancy Limited (VOL) has sold seven per cent of its equity to Avingtrans, a Nottingham-based engineering technology group, for £200,000.

VOL, based at Loughborough University, has been developing a new technology called ‘dtect’ for detecting and counting occupants in moving road vehicles.

‘Avingtrans investment is an excellent opportunity for VOL to bring dtect to the market after five years of product development,’ said Dr John Tyrer, technical director at VOL.

‘Traffic congestion is costing countries billions of pounds and dtect will provide road planners and toll operators the ability to manage traffic flows.’

Avingtrans specialises in the design and manufacture of critical components and associated services to the medical, aerospace and transport sectors.
