BAE cameras enhance visibility

BAE Systems will provide Oshkosh Corporation with thermal cameras for 2,399 mine-resistant, ambush-protected all-terrain vehicles (M-ATVs), under a $45m (£30m) multi-year contract.

The thermal cameras enable crews to view their surroundings while remaining within the vehicle’s protective armour.

‘The ability to see outside the vehicle provides an important increase in situational awareness and safety for the occupants of vehicles, who frequently travel in very dangerous territory,’ said Jamie Adair, programme manager for BAE Systems in Austin, Texas.

The BAE Check-6 system features infrared camera systems installed inside the vehicles’ taillight housings and provide visibility in daylight, darkness and adverse weather.
