Building reliable paper folding machines

Eye Spyraflo, looks at self-aligning, self-clinching bearings. Folding 18,000 paper sheets per hour an automated machine relied on adjustable surfaces but limited space required a low torque motor and shaft supports. Low-friction needle bearings mounted directly in the sheet metal chassis eliminated accurate mounting blocks and cut motor costs. To compensate for dynamic misalignment due to the thin framework meant using self-aligning bearings. A simple press operation squeezes the cold flow of material around the retainer ensuring a solid assembly with minimal cost. Tel: 01376 333315
