CDP launches £1 million fund

Technology and product development company Cambridge Design Partnership (CDP) has launched a £1m fund to nurture early-stage high-tech businesses.

CDP said the fund gives companies access to its multi-disciplinary teams, covering electronics, mechanical engineering and industrial design, in recognition of the pressure companies face in bringing technology out of the lab, through commercial trials and to launch.

CDP has already allocated some of the fund's cash to two new developments, one creating innovations in the field of cardiology and a second developing technology to monitor the performance of racehorses.

CDP's expertise falls into three main areas: healthcare, such as surgical devices and diagnostic equipment; consumer, including audio, GPS and DIY equipment; and industrial, covering printing, process development and pharmaceutical products.
