The Innovation and Technology Centre

(ITC) has announced that it is more than 65 per cent full, home to 15 companies and has created 45 new jobs.

Based on the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Rotherham, the ITC is owned by Yorkshire Forward and managed by Oxford Innovation. It provides serviced accommodation for new and growing small, engineering-related businesses. This includes engineering/manufacturing software designers, product developers and environmental technology companies.

Over the last two years, five companies have expanded after locating to the ITC, and one company has moved out to larger premises.

Since moving into the ITC, ITI Energy, which has developed a unique gasification technology, has grown from a one-person firm run by founder and managing director, Tony Fordham, and now employs 15 people. The company is actively pursuing partnerships with companies across the globe.

Fordham said: ‘The expertise and support available in the ITC and the wider Advanced Manufacturing Park is second to none, and it is inspiring to know that other specialist engineering companies and experts from the University of Sheffield are on-hand should they be needed.'

Jim Farmery, head of competitiveness for Yorkshire Forward, added: ‘The ITC has proved to be a real success, attracting some excellent engineering companies that are already growing and achieving their own success. The creation of 45 new jobs and an investment of £7m from the private sector in such a short space of time endorses the decision by Yorkshire Forward to invest in the ITC.’
