Easy-fit bra

An easy-to-use bra with a magnetic front-fastening clasp could transform the lives of older women and those with disabilities.

CoreBra is the latest innovation by Birmingham company Adaptawear, which makes adaptive clothing for people who have difficulties dressing.

In addition to the magnetic fastening, it also features large finger loops to make dressing easier.

Adaptawear’s managing director Kavita Chauhan said: ‘I noticed that the clothes being worn by older people and people with disabilities were often baggy, and individuals did not always have the independence and dignity they deserved.

’Bra fitting, for those recovering from strokes for example, was a particular difficulty.’

Adaptawear brought in expertise from Coventry University’s Health Design and Technology Institute (HDTI) to trial the bra with six volunteers, and received positive feedback.

CoreBra has recently been launched on the market in a variety of sizes, catering for the rapid change in weight that can be experienced during illness, and counts the Red Cross among its distributors.
