MoD

’s Hard Kill Defensive Aid Suite (HKDAS) programme, which is developing advanced protection to armoured vehicles.

Frazer-Nash, whose head office is in Dorking, Surrey, will work closely with the MoD to produce a detailed safety case report of the HKDAS programme, in order to demonstrate its suitability for application in a military environment.

Defensive aid suites are advanced active protective systems that protect land systems against ballistic, chemical/biological and mine attacks. In this assessment phase, Frazer-Nash will provide the essential safety measures required for the programme.

Dave Owen, Frazer-Nash Land Systems business manager, said: ‘The safety case is integral to the future of the project and once complete will enable it to move into its next phase.

‘We will be using our vast experience of safety cases from across the defence sector to assist the MoD in its development of a safety-management system and are very pleased to be playing such a central role in the delivery of the programme.’

The study, due to be completed in May next year, will investigate the safety requirements needed for the programme to move into the subsequent design and manufacture phase.
