Alcan is to invest $42.6 million building a new packaging facility in Reidsville Industrial Park, NC.

Alcan is to invest $42.6 million building a new packaging facility in Reidsville Industrial Park, NC that will produce printed packaging, including folding cartons and labels, for Alcan Packaging's customers in the tobacco business.

The new facility will create 170 jobs and use state-of-the art rotogravure printing processes.

Construction on the site will begin in the third quarter, 2005, with start up slated for the end of the the second quarter, 2006.

The announcement follows Alcan’s May 2 signing of an exclusive supply agreement with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco.
