ABB General Performance motors - the EU’s ‘right now’ choice
Promoted ContentEnergy efficiency is a key priority for the EU Clean Industrial Deal, especially when it comes to the millions of industrial electric motors that power industrial applications such as fans, pumps and compressors.

However, as Stefan Floeck, Division President, IEC Low Voltage Motors at ABB, explains, success relies not only on energy efficient, reliable technology, but also making it available “right now”.
The EU Clean Industrial Deal is a huge opportunity to boost Europe's competitiveness. It will create jobs, boost manufacturing and increase energy security on the way to making Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050. Phasing-in energy efficient industrial motors is a major contribution to achieving this aim. The EU estimates [AB1] that this will save 106 TWh of electricity by 2030, equivalent to the annual power consumption of the Netherlands, and avoid 40 million tons of CO2 emissions per year.
However, the success of this initiative relies on more than developing energy efficient motors - we need to make them available to customers right now. Because every day that an inefficient motor stays in service is another day of carbon emissions that can never be saved. At the same time, the savings in electricity bills will contribute directly to the bottom line of the business.
