Added Versatility For Stingray Camera Range

AVT’s popular Stingray range of cameras has been enhanced with the introduction of two new cameras, the 1.3 megapixel F-125 and the 5 megapixel F-504. In addition, all six cameras in the Stingray range are now available as Board Level products. These new cameras will be available at the beginning of 2009 from FIRSTSIGHT VISION (whose name will change to STEMMER IMAGING on January 1st, 2009).

The Stingray F-125 features the new high sensitivity 1.3 megapixel Sony CCD ICX445 sensor, while the Stingray F-504, with its 5 megapixel sensor and excellent image quality extends the range at the high end. Both cameras are available in both monochrome and colour versions and like all Stingray models, they offer two IEEE-1394b (Firewire) interfaces for fast data transfer and simple daisy-chaining when used in multi-camera applications.

These two new models deliver the full functionality of the Stingray family as implemented with the first firmware upgrade. For example, the integrated temperature sensor can be used to control the ventilation or cooling of an imaging system in order to optimise image quality.

The Stingray is known as the ‘Transformer’ camera since it is designed to be modular and flexible, offering a wide selection of lens-mounts, sensors, case variations, interfaces and cable outputs, which can be flexibly configured using building block principles. This flexibility has been further enhanced with the introduction of board level versions, which have the same sensor variants and feature sets as the standard Stingray family.

Board level Stingray cameras can be specified according to the type of sensor, length of flex cable (102 mm or 48 mm), lens mount (C, CS or none) and type of optical filter. The same firmware and boards as standard Stingrays are used, but I/O is via a 13-pole I/O pin connector.
