Airshow brings Airbus orders

KD Avia, a Russian carrier, has placed an order with Airbus for 25 A319s at this year’s International Berlin Airshow.

The airline plans to operate the single-aisle aircraft on its extended network of domestic and international routes out of its Kaliningrad hub.

‘We are glad to have selected the Airbus A319 for our medium range fleet expansion. The A319 will contribute to the strengthening of Kaliningrad’s position as an important Russian transit hub and at the same time will enable us to further develop our route network,’ said Sergey Grishchenko, chairman of KD Avia.

Separately, Gulf Air, Bahrain’s national airline, placed a firm order with Airbus for 15 A320 single-aisle aircraft and 20 A330-300s.

The new order more than doubles Gulf Air’s Airbus fleets, as it already operates 10 A320s, six A330-200s and nine A340-300s.

The A320 will serve Gulf Air’s regional destinations, while the A330 will operate on the airline’s European routes and enhance its services in the Far East.
