Australian power plant contract for Alstom

Alstom has won a €250 million contract from TRUenergy, a subsidiary of CLP, to supply a turnkey 400MW gas-fired combined cycle power plant in New South Wales, Australia. The contract includes a 12-year long-term service agreement for the gas turbine equipment.

Alstom will design, supply, install and commission the entire power plant, consisting of a GT26 gas turbine, a 160MW steam turbine, condenser, heat recovery steam generator, step-up transformer, plant control systems, civil works and the remaining plant.

The project is located at Lake Illawara, south of Sydney and is expected to begin commercial operation in autumn of 2008.

Alstom was previously awarded two similar EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contracts in 2005 for the 450MW Braemar Power Project in Queensland and the 310MW Kwinana Power Project in Western Australia.
