BAE Systems
recently received a $31 million production contract from the US Air Force to provide 31 AN/ALR-56M radar warning receiver systems for a new fleet of Air Force and Marine Corps C-130J aircraft and line replaceable unit (LRU) spares for the Taiwan Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft.
The ALR-56M detects radar emissions in the environment and notifies the pilot when it detects signals that could threaten the aircraft.
To date, BAE Systems’ receivers are now onboard 34 US C-130Js and 22 Italian C-130Js. More than 1,000 receivers have been provided to the Air Force and to international customers since the contract was originally awarded in 1988.
The contracting agency is Warner Robins Air Logistics Center, Georgia. All production, test and delivery work will take place at the company’s Greenlawn, New York facility. The production contract will run through to 2007.
