Boeing signs early warning agreement

Boeing has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to modify four of Korea’s airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft

As part of the agreement, Boeing will upgrade one E-X 737 AEW&C, while KAI, a consolidation of the aerospace businesses of Samsung, Daewoo and Hyundai, will modify the three other AEW&C aircraft at its factory in Sacheon, Korea.

Last year, Boeing signed a $1.59bn contract with South Korea to provide four AEW&C systems with ground support units for flight and mission crew training, mission support, and aircraft and system modification support.

Boeing will deliver the first AEW&C aircraft in 2011, and the remainding three the following year.
