Bota Systems raises $2.5m to help give robots sense of touch
Bota Systems, a Swiss company developing force torque sensing solutions for robots, has completed a $2.5m seed round led by Marathon Venture Capital with the participation of angel investors.

As part of the round, Bota Systems will grow its team to address demand from research labs and manufacturing companies globally, along with delivering its product roadmap.
According to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR) World Robotics report, 553,052 industrial robots were installed globally in 2022. The range of tasks performed is growing, but most robots still lack the sense of touch.
In a statement, George Tziralis, partner at Marathon Venture Capital, said: “Robotic arms move from point A to point B with phenomenal consistency and precision. Still, if an item is not exactly where it should be or its shape proves slightly different, robots fail. Bota Systems equips robots with the sense of touch, bringing us closer to a robotic revolution.”
Zurich-based Bota Systems’ platform consists of advanced in-house developed force torque sensors with built-in electronics and proprietary AI that equip robotic arms with flexibility and adaptability.
According to the company, this enables first-time use cases such as polishing complex surfaces, assembling delicate parts, or performing interactive tasks.
