Carillion wins Swedish rail contracts

The track-doubling project at Motala Mjölby is to improve capacity to the new marshalling yard at Hallsberg and is valued at £22.3 million with a £2.6 million option. The project includes the design and installation of 230km of track with associated overhead line, signalling and telecommunications systems for Banverket Eastern Region. The project, which will begin this month and is scheduled for completion in October 2009, is the largest design and build project let by Banverket for over three years.

 

The Falkenberg contract, valued at £12 million, is one of three final phases of the track doubling project to improve capacity between Malmo and Gothenburg, Sweden's second and third largest cities. The two-year project, which is due to start this month, includes the installation of 25km of new track and associated overhead line, signalling and telecommunications systems for Banverket Western region.

 

The £4.4 million E6 contract is the third successive package secured by Carillion associated with capacity improvements for the City tunnel project. It will begin in August 2006 and be complete by June 2008. The client is Banverket Southern region.
