Concorde advert celebrates Eurotherm/SMW business success.

Eurotherm and Special Metals Wiggin (SMW) celebrated the success of their long-term and ongoing business relationship at a ceremony on July 2nd at Special Metals Wiggin, in Hereford.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of an original SMW advert from the 1960s by Mark Siebenaller, Business Director of the Heat Treatment Business Unit at Eurotherm, to Ray Stone, Managing Director of SMW.

The advert was originally published in 1969 to celebrate SMW's contribution to the Concorde supersonic aircraft project.

Hereford-based SMW traces its roots back to the mid-1800s when Sir Henry Wiggin formed the company to manufacture specialty metal products. It has been part of the Special Metals Corporation group of companies since 1998.

Most recently, Eurotherm has upgraded SMW's creep laboratory, providing temperature and power control, plus data management for a Nadcap accredited laboratory.

Another success was Eurotherm's installation of an extrusion supervisory system to increase efficiency and regulatory control by improving press scheduling, plant control and customisable reporting.
