Contracts for Cobham

Defence and aerospace group Cobham has unveiled £10m worth of new military technology contracts in the UK and North America.

The biggest single boost to the Dorset-based group came from Boeing, which will pay Cobham around £6m to supply its pneumatic weapons carriage release assembly.

The US aerospace giant will use the carriage for its Boeing Small Diameter Bomb programme, a 250lb GPS-aided glide weapon. According to Cobham, the US Air Force eventually plans to use the carriage to deliver a range of miniature munitions.

The second boost for Cobham came from the Canadian Department of National Defence, which will spend £1.5m on personal locator beacons for use by aircrew from the UK group’s avionics and surveillance division.

The final contract in the trio, worth more than £2.5m, came from the UK MoD under its long-term partnership with Cobham as part of the Defence General Munitions integrated project.
